Today I’m sharing a canvas I made for Kay’s last shows on Hochanda- the one with the manikins! For this canvas I cut a manikin in half and used one therefore I now have the start of another project- watch this space…..
The canvas background was painted black with black Gee-Sso-Good, poppies and peonies were stamped onto rice paper, painted with Vodka Martini and Goldfinger, torn out and applied with matt Slap-it-on. A crackle glaze was painted over the entire canvas, when dry Bronze Luscious was spattered over and used to edge the canvas.
I love the effect of butterfly wings on the manikin. To get this effect I stamped Big Butterfly #2 onto rice paper with a permanent ink using a stamping platform. While still in place the butterfly was painted with Kingfisher Blue, Aladdin and Cinderella metallic paints, when dry the butterfly was then stamped again. A further 5 butterflies were painted. The manikin had been painted with Kingfisher Blue, and the butterfly wings were cut out and applied to the manikin with Glossy Slap-It-On.
Floral elements from Anemone and Daisy and Marigold and Peony were stamped onto rice paper and painted with the same colour palette and fussy cut. A sentiment from Mindfulness#1 was stamped, cut out and edged with Bronze Luscious. These were attached to the canvas to finish.
I hope you have enjoyed this look at this canvas, do check out the rest of the team’s posts from the IndigoBlu blog.
Take care until next time, Kay x
